Mining Sample Preparation | Avantor

Prepare your samples for the assay process

Mining sample preparation is a crucial step in the assay process, as it involves the proper handling and processing of rock and mineral samples for analysis. The samples typically need to be crushed, ground, or homogenized to ensure that they are representative of the larger mineral deposit. Sample preparation can involve a range of techniques, such as sieving, splitting, and milling, depending on the type of sample and the intended analysis.

Avantor offers a comprehensive product offering to meet the requirements of the Mining Sample Prep Lab including consumable products such as metal top sample bags and high temperature sample bags. Complete dust collection systems are also available including dust hoods and bag houses. Working closely with leading branding like Grieve, Rocklabs, Alsto and Essa, we supply crushers, sample dividers, and pulverizers to mining labs.

Equipment

Standard ovens uniformly heat or dry samples using gravity convection or forced fan-blown air circulation.

Alsto crushers and pulverizers are available in a range of sizes for laboratory and plant applications

Select from a verity of Boyd crushers from Rocklabs, including the Boyd Elite and Smart Boyd Crusher.

Crushers process large chunks of mineral samples into smaller pieces to enable further analysis.

Splitters separate crushed samples into smaller representative portions for pulverizing.

Pulverizer breaks down mineral samples into smaller particles to enable further analysis.

Dust Hoods

Workstation dust hoods are used where dust is created such as fluxing, cleaning pulverizer bowls or cleaning screens.

Pulverizer hoods capture and collect dust while providing uniform airflow, a clean work surface and protecting the operator from contaminants.

Crusher/splitter hoods effectively capture and collect dust while providing uniform airflow, a clean work surface and protecting the operator from contaminants.

Slagging hoods capture and collect dust while providing uniform airflow, a clean work surface and protecting the operator from contaminants.

Supplies

Sealable envelopes idea for storing small amounts of mineral samples.

Ore sample bags are available in many materials including Cotton, Canvas and spun-bound polypropylene.

Aluminum pans can be used in several processing applications or in a water reservoir.

Riffle pans are used to evenly split solid samples and other dry substances.

Carts are available in many configurations and materials  for transporting supplies or samples between labs.
