Both films incorporate a fine grain, blue sensitive emulsion coated on a stable 7mil ESTAR® base. Best suited for medium energy electrons (40–100kV), although acceptable results can be obtained at higher electron energy levels. KODAK® Electron Microscope Film 4489 is commonly used for biological specimen imaging, while KODAK® Electron Image Film SO-163 is optimized for material sciences studies.
