Polypropylene microplates are chemical-resistant and able to withstand extreme temperatures, making them suitable for freezing samples or reagents. They can be tightly sealed with polyethylene mat lids. Mat lids are available for 0.5, 1.0, or 2.0 mL microplates; lids for the 2.0 mL plates are pierceable.

They feature an 8x12, 96-well format for compatibility with automated workstations, robotic samplers, cell harvesters, and many microplate centrifuge rotors. Microplates are alphanumerically labeled for easy sample identification.
